DREAM HOME CENTRE POSES README
______________________________

WHAT THIS IS

This is a set of poses to move each of the rooms in the Dream Home set by Redhouse Studios to the centre (world origin 0,0,0) of the Poser or DAZ|Studio workspace, to help those who just want to use one or a few rooms and not have to move the camera and figures around hunting for the rooms in their default positions.

USE

1 To move a particular room to the centre, load the room, and with the room selected apply the corresponding pose.

2 To move adjacent rooms to their correct positions next to the room you have centred, load the additional rooms, and with them selected use the pose marked for the room you have centred. E.g. if you want to use the Study at the centre, but still have the Foyer/Living Room and the His-and-Hers Dressing Rooms alongside it, load all three rooms, and apply the Study_Centred.pz2 to all three.

3 To move a room AND its furniture: (i) load the room; (ii) with the room still in its default position, load the furniture preset for the room; (iii) PARENT the furniture to the room (in Poser this is most easily done in the hierarchy editor); (iv) select the room Body and apply the centre pose. Do NOT apply the pose to the furniture; you must apply the pose to just the room with the furniture parented the room. (Note that you don't have to move the camera to see the room in its default position to do this - just load the room, load the furniture, parent, apply pose and it will all appear round the camera.)

NOTE ON 'CENTRE' POSITION

My first thought was to have the rooms move so that the centre of each room was at the world 0,0,0 position. However, in most cases this leaves the default camera (D|S) and the Main and Dolly cameras (Poser) outside the room staring at the outside of the front wall right in front of them, and blocked off from seeing a figure loaded into the scene at the default load position. I therefore decided to supply poses that move them so that BOTH the world 0,0,0 centre AND the Default/Main/Dolly cameras (at their default positions) are inside the room, and if you then load a figure like V4, you will see her in the default/main/dolly camera without having to move them.

This means that the rooms are mostly centred right-to-left on the X axis, but are shifted somewhat on the positive Z in the direction of the camera. Generally, the rooms move so that the default camera positions are just inside the front wall, and the world centre figure load point is towards the back wall. (Note that some rooms don't have a back wall, so you may not see anything after applying the pose other than maybe a bit of floor; but if you rotate the default D|S camera or Poser dolly camera, you will find the room is around you.)

Some notes on specific rooms:

THE RETREAT - the centre pose not only centres it, but also moves it down so the floor is at the normal ground level. Applying the same pose to other rooms (like the Master Bedroom) will also shift them down to preserve the correct relationship with the Retreat.

THE KITCHEN - the centre pose moves the kitchen so the default camera and world centre are over to the right of the kitchen; this is because if the kitchen is centred on the X axis, there's a counter right in front of the camera.

THE HIS-HERS-DRESSING-ROOMS - the centre pose moves this so that the default camera and world centre are off to the right in the Hers Dressing Room. This is because that's the only part of this set where the default camera can see the world centre and a loaded figure.

THE PGWB - the centre pose moves this to a position over to the left, with the world centre inside the right-hand end and the default camera outside looking in through an arch. It's the only position where the default camera positions can see a loaded figure.

THE MAIN FLOOR GUEST ROOM - the centre pose moves this so that the default camera and world centre are in the actual guest room, with the centre of the figure off to the right +x. This is because the centre of the figure on its X axis is in the corridor, which is too narrow On its Z axis to have both camera and world centre inside the corridor.

THE UPPER FLOOR GUEST ROOM - the centre pose moves this so that the default camera and world centre are in the actual guest room, with the centre of the figure off to the right +x. This is because the centre of the figure on its X axis is in the corridor, which is too narrow on its Z axis to have both camera and world centre inside the corridor. The pose also moves the figure down so the floor is at the normal ground level. Applying the same pose to other rooms (like the Main Floor Guest Room) will also shift them down to preserve the correct relationship with the Upper Floor Guest Room.

THE MEDIA ROOM - the centre pose not only centres it, but also moves it down so the floor is at the normal ground level. Applying the same pose to other rooms (like the Garage) will also shift them down to preserve the correct relationship with the Media Room.

THE BASEMENT - the centre pose not only centres it, but also moves it up so the floor is at the normal ground level. Applying the same pose to other rooms (like the Garage) will also shift them up to preserve the correct relationship with the Basement.

NOTE ON 'CENTRE' AND WHY NOT 'CENTER'

I am English, and it's spelt 'centre' in English, so I spell it 'centre'. 'Center' is how those strange ex-colonies over the pond spell it. ;)
